How This Campaign is Different

Your State Delegate needs to be someone you can trust, both in values and ability. While Don has a strong record of community service and professional accomplishment, a paper record means nothing compared to reputation. This is a local campaign, to serve the community where Don was born and raised. This campaign is different because it will solicit and distribute endorsements from your friends and neighbors - people you know and trust, and who know and trust Don.

Meet Don

Raised in the local community, Don is a proud graduate of its public schools - Wellwood Elementary, Summit Park Elementary, Pikesville Middle, and Pikesville High. Don attended the University of Maryland on the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce Community Service Scholarship and a State Senatorial Scholarship, amongst others. There, he led the representation of all 35,000 students as the Student Caucus Chair in the Faculty-Student Senate. Don then moved to Brown University, where he earned a Computer Science Masters degree and directed five of the university's residence halls. After Brown, Don moved to Philadelphia to earn his PhD in Physics at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also directed a living/learning program in science and technology. Don did his dissertation work in the medical school, researching ways to invent new medicines.

Since finishing his PhD, Don has been serving the nation by providing science and technology analysis to Congress, including policy work on education, business, and energy. He was one of two congressional staffers responsible for managing the U.S. House of Representatives' Research and Development Caucus and one of four for the Biomedical Research Caucus. He is a frequent invited speaker on science policy at universities and at academic conferences.

An Eagle Scout, Don volunteers as an Assistant Scoutmaster with the district's Troop 97. He is the President of the Baltimore County Young Democrats and a member of the Baltimore County Democratic Party leadership. He serves on a variety of national committees responsible for developing federal science and technology policy.

Don is running for State Delegate because our quality of life is at risk. His mother's biochemistry job was outsourced to China, after his grandparents and great-grandparents realized the American dream as entrepreneurial immigrants to Baltimore. In the face of soaring gas prices and environmental challenges, Don's scientific background is needed in the state legislature. Don's familiarity with Maryland's schools, industry, and federal science agencies uniquely position him to help the state and district sustain our quality of life for the next generation.

Maryland's 42nd District

The 42nd District is represented by three State Delegates and one State Senator. We are working to elect Don to be one of the three Delegates. The top three vote-getters all serve, and voters may vote for up to three candidates.
